What is an Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE)?
An Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE) is a comprehensive assessment conducted by a qualified professional who is not employed by the school district. IEEs provide an objective, in-depth understanding of a student’s strengths and needs when there are concerns about prior school evaluations or when additional insight is needed to guide services.
IEEs can be requested by parents and may be funded by the school district under IDEA when there is disagreement with a district evaluation.
